Rose Hanna

Rose Ellen Hanna, 91, of Van Vleck, died on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008. She was born to Mittie Chastun Hanson and Anton Hanson on June 20, 1916 in Ashwood. She married Mackey Horrell Hanna on Nov. 24, 1938. Mrs. Hana was a devoted wife and mother and later worked at the U.S. Post Office in Van Vleck. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City for most of her 91 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years; a son, Michael Albert Hanna; siblings, Johnny Hanson, Cassie Peabody and Sina Bourland; her parents; and infant siblings, William and Dorothea Hanson.

She is survived by 10 children and their spouses, Cynthia Robinson of Halletsville, Martha Hanna of Houston, Nancy Franz and Johnie of Wharton, Miriam Cihal and Steve of Victoria, Johanna Potter of Columbus, Marilynne Hodapp and Phil of Bemidji, Minn., Pat Hanna and Ann of Sacramento, Calif., Dennis Hanna and Denise of Columbus, Ricky Hanna and Shirley of Richwood, Mark Hanna and Sonya of Fredericksburg; brother, Paul Hanson, of West Columbia; 24 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

Visitation was held at the funeral home Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at 6 p.m. with the rosary following. Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. today Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Zach Cihal, Jake Hodapp, Tim Hodapp, Jared Potter, Will Hanna and Kevin Gutteron.

Honorary pallbearers will be David, Craig, Sean, Nathan, Steven and Cade Hanna.

Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Catholic School.
