Tiger Relays set today

After a four-year absence, the Tiger Relays return to Tiger Stadium this motning.

The statdim track was resurfaced last May and more than $300,000 was spent on the project.

Field events crank up at 9 a.m. with the 3,200-meter run scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

Running events, beginning with the 400-meter relay, start at 1 p.m.

Teams competing include Boling, Brazosport, Royal, Sweeny and Wharton.

Wharton boys track coach Thomas Cooper expects 20 to 25 members of his team to compete. Approximately15 Lady Tigers are also expected to compete.
