EAST BERNARD - Despite beating Industrial 4-0 and improving to 3-0 on the season, EB softball coach Amy Bush was not pleased with her team's showing Tuesday night at Koym Field.

"I feel like we just didn't play very well tonight," said Bush.

"We were very, very nervous with it being our first home game.

"The kids are starting to feel the expectations and pressure of being a good team now. Last year there were none."

EB played lethargically for the most part and weren't aggressive at the plate "Our confidence was a little sketchy and that's scary for the kids."

Courtney Repka tossed a one-hitter, striking out 14 and walking two.

Industrial's only threat came in the top of the seventh inning.

Taylor Milberger reached on an infield single with two outs and Kelsey Schoonover walked.

Repka came back to strike out Kelsey Burrow to end the game.

Industrial pitcher Audrey Benavides walked with two outs in the second and stole second base. Repka then struck out Ashley Rossler.

EB broke a scoreless tie in the third to go up 1-0.

Laura Kubes reached on a bloop single behind first and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Trisha Polak.

Leadoff hitter Liz Reyes reached a full count before doubling home Kubes.

Cameron Kieler popped out to Schooler behind the plate and Katie Dawson grounded out. The Brahmarettes picked up two more runs in the fourth to go up 3-0.

Repka singled and Samantha Wasek followed with a base hit.

Brittney Wilcox reached first on a fielder's choice ground ball as courtesy runner Ashley Miculka was forced at third.

Paula Lopez was hit to load the bases.

Kubes reached on a fielder's choice and Wasek scored on a late throw to the plate.

Polak reached on a fielder's choice as Wilcox was forced at the plate but Lopez came around to score on a throwing error.

EB made it 4-0 in the fifth.

Dawson led off with a single and Repka flew out to left field. Wasek walked and Wilcox followed with an RBI single. Lopez and Kubes then popped out. The Brahmarettes totaled seven hits in the game. Dawson was two for three.

Reyes was one for two. Repka, Wasek and Kubes were one for two

East Bernard played 3A Yoakum on Friday and starts playing for keeps Tuesday.

The Brahmarettes travel to Danbury to play the Lady Panthers in the District 27-2A opener.
