Pioneers start 3-game home series against Laredo today WCJC's baseball team starts playing for keeps today when they start the Region XIV South Zone schedule with a three-game series against Laredo Community College at Tiger Field. The series was originally scheduled for Laredo but was shifted to Wharton this week. Today's first game of a scheduled doubleheader starts at noon. Sunday' game starts at the same time. Trey Ross and Jay Reese are today's probable starting Pioneer pitchers. WCJC owns a 8-5 season record. A planned doubleheader against Angelina on Wednesday was canceled because of rain. The Palominos sport a 8-10 record. Regional play actually started Wednesday with nationally-ranked San Jacinto College beating Blinn 11- 3. The Gators and Bucanners will play a doubleheader today in Houston. Alvin, which is 4-3, had its game against Galveston Wednesday postponed because of rain.
