Lady Tigers ousted from playoffs
4th quarter rally falls short against HJ
      DEER PARK - A fourth quarter rally by Wharton's girls basketball team came up short in a Region III Class 3A area round 65-58 loss to Hardin-Jefferson Friday night. Down 58-36 after the third quarter Wharton rallied back to make it a fourpoint game with under a minute left.

Boling notches 15-0 win over Louise

      BOLING - Boling's softball team needed only four innings to run-rule Wharton County rival Louise 15-0 Friday afternoon at Lady Bulldog Field. This was Louise's first game at the varsity level and the Lady Hornettes inexperience showed.

Tiger lifters finish third in Rice meet
Owens, Jaquez earn bring home gold medals
      ALTAIR - Wharton's boys powerlifting team finished third among 30 teams at Saturday's Rice Consolidated Invitational held in Raider Gym. LaVernia lifters totaled 27 points to win the team championship. Columbus was second with 18 points and the Tigers finished with 16.

Lady Tiger softballers take 3rd in tournament
      MARBLE FALLS - Wharton's softball team beat Odessa Permian 3-2 Saturday afternoon to take the third place trophy in the Marble Falls Barbecue Classic this past weekend. Wharton went 2-1 in pool games on Friday. The Lady Tigers beat Lakeview 3-2, lost to Friendswood 5-3 and beat Waco Hirschi.

Tiger Relays return Saturday
      After a four-year absence, the Tiger Relays return to Tiger Stadium this Saturday. The statdim track was resurfaced last May and more than $300,000 was spent on the project. Field events crank up at 9 a.m. with the 3,200-meter run scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

      HEMPSTEAD - East Bernard softball pitcher Courtney Repka picked up where she left off from last year. Repka pitched two no-hitters in the Hempstead Invitational Tournament on Friday. She threw a perfect game in a 5-0 win over Rice Consolidated and struck out 12.
