Lorene Bock Lorene Mabel Bock of Magnet died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 in a Bay City hospital following a brief illness. She was born on May 20, 1921 in Muldoon, Fayette County, the daughter of the late Garrett Boehnke and Viola Willeford Boehnke. Mrs. Bock had been a resident of Magnet since 1941 and was a charter member of Magnet Baptist Church. She graduated from Flatonia High School in 1936 and was the class valedictorian. Mrs. Bock attended Texas Women's University for three years. She married August Bernard Bock on June 21, 1941 in Texas City, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lamar and Carl Boehnke; and her stepfather, Ben Paul Boehnke. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Maurice Marrow officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and David Lewis of Bay City; son and daughter-in-law, Bubba and Jo Ann Bock of Magnet; sister, Shirley Lyons of Katy; brother, Ben Wayne Boehnke of Brenham; grandchildren, Sarah Roper of Bay City, Natalie Beeson of Pearland and Katy Bock of Houston; great-grandchildren, Morgan Roper of Bay City and Meredith Beeson of Pearland. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Pallbearers were Marvin Boehnke, Michael Boehnke, Scott Lyons, Jerry Shimek, Paul Siegel and Billy Owens. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to Magnet Baptist Church, 122 South Billie Neal Rd., Wharton, TX 77488. Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home. |
