Lady Bulldogs dealt district loss by Van Vleck VAN VLECK - Boling's girls basketball team slipped to 3-8 in the District 27-2A standings after dropping a 65-39 decision to Caney Creek rival Van Vleck Friday night in Leopard Gymnasium. The second place Lady Leopards improved to 9-2 and played 5-6 Danbury Tuesday night. Boling played Wharton county rival East Bernard, which was 6-5 after losing to league leading and 11-0 Hitchcock. The Lady Dawgs have clinched a playoff spot and battled Brazos last night. The Cougarettes were 9-2. Van Vleck jumped out to a 13-5 lead after the first quarter but Boling battled back in the second to make it a 28-23 game at halftime. The Lady Leopards outscored the Lady Bulldogs 19-6 in the third quarter to go up 47-29. Van Vleck shutout Boling 18-0 in the final eight minutes of the game. Ebony Ashley led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points and also had 12 rebounds and one steal. Jessica Moore finished with five points, six rebounds and one assist. Beth Llanes scored six points and had six rebounds and three assists. Stephanie Rachunek scored nine points and had five rebounds. Paige Bucek added four rebounds and one steal.
