Boling suffers 85-58 district loss VAN VLECK - Boling's boys basketball team dropped a 85- 58 decision to Caney Creek rival Van Vleck Friday night in Leopard Gymnasium. The Bulldogs slipped to 1-8 and played county rival and 2- 7 East Bernard last night. The second place Leopards improved to 8-1 and battled 1-8 Danbury last night. Boling fell behind 14-8 after the first quarter and trailed 42- 18 at halftime. The Bulldogs battled back to make it 57-38 after the third quarter but Van Vleck outscored Boling 28-20 in the final eight minutes of the game. "The kids played hard but a bad second quarter was our downfall," said Boling coach Kevin Majewski. "We got into foul trouble and turned the ball over in the second which enabled them to build a big lead. "Van Vleck shot the ball real well throughout the game, 52 percent, compared to our 32 percent." Dennis Hemphill led the Bulldogs with 19 points. B.W. McLeod finished with 14 points. Dupree Taylor contributed with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Tanner Thompson scored seven points and had five rebounds. Kevin Ferrell scored six points and had two assists. Justin Hobbs scored two points and had five rebounds. In other district results, third place Yes College Prep beat Danbury 51-40 to improve to 6-3 and battled Houston Can last night. The Panthers were 4-5. Coming up Friday, Boling hosts Danbury. |
