WCYF queen entry deadline set Feb. 14

The deadline to enter the Wharton County Youth Fair Queen Contest is Thursday, Feb. 14.

Entry Forms are available at the Fair Office, and the Wharton County school counselors' offices.

Queen, first and second runners up will receive scholarships and other prizes.

Any female enrolled in a Wharton County high school as a freshman, sophomore or junior is eligible to enter the Wharton County Youth Fair Queen Contest.

Contestants must be in compliance with the "No pass, no play" regulations at the time of entry, during the contest, and must not have been married or have had a child.

There is a $35 entry fee for each contestant and any club, fraternal, religious group, business, civic, school organization, or an individual is eligible to sponsor a contestant.

There is a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Wharton County Fairgrounds in the Directors' Room of the new office complex at 7 p.m.

Publicity photos will be taken at this meeting and season passes handed out.

A parent or guardian must attend this meeting with the contestant.

The contest will be held in conjunction with the Wharton County Youth Fair & Exposition on Sunday, May 4.

The contestant chosen as queen will receive a $500 scholarship, crown, belt buckle, trophy and prizes.

The first runner-up will receive a $300 scholarship, trophy and prizes; second runner-up will receive a $200 scholarship, trophy and prizes; third and fourth runners-up will receive trophies and prizes.

Queen of Ticket Sales will receive a $250 scholarship and trophy, the contestant winning the Directors' Award will receive a $250 scholarship, belt buckle and other various prizes and Miss Congeniality will receive a trophy.
