George Krenek

George Louis Vrana Krenek, age 92, of Wharton, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on May 5, 1915 in Lavaca County, the son of the late Alois Vrana and Millie Petter Vrana Krenek.

Mr. Krenek had been a resident of Wharton since 1977 and was a former longtime resident of Newgulf. He married Martha Macha on Oct. 25, 1939 in Hungerford. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton and was a 65-year member of the Knights of Columbus.

He worked as a shift foreman with Texasgulf Sulphur for 35 years until his retirement in 1977.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lorraine Reinhardt.

A rosary was recited Friday evening at the Wharton Funeral Home chapel and a Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. today, Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Dominic Antwi Boasiako officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Krenek of Wharton; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Charles Kulak of Boling and Katherine and Randy Barnes of Rockport; sons and daughters-in-law, Allan Roy and Connie Krenek of Georgetown and Larry J. and Kathie Krenek of Sandy of Utah; sisters, Margaret Kopecky of El Campo and Bernice Kopecky of Richmond; brother, Eugene A. Krenek of Shiner; grandchildren, Charles Kulak Jr., Thomas Kulak, Patti Hubenak, Glenn Kulak, Jonathan Krenek, Larissa Parsons, Nancy Barnes, Melissa Krenek and Melinda Krenek; greatgrandchildren; Jonathan Kulak, Whitney Kulak, Will Hubenak, Haley Hubenak, Alyssa Kulak, Heather Kulak, Allan Kulak, Cheyanne Kulak, Rachel Krenek and Logan Parsons; great-greatgranddaughter, Summer Ortiz. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers are all of his former co-workers at Texasgulf Sulphur and his fellow Knights of Columbus members.

In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to your favorite charity.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation for the loving care given to George by caregivers, Olivia Anzaldua, Mary Ann Valdez, Elma Samora and the staff of Girling Health Services.

Funeral services are under the arrangement of Wharton Funeral Home.
