IFC hosts Valentine Banquet Feb. 14, barbecue fundraiser tonight

Iago Federated Church has begun preparations for their annual Valentine's Banquet. It will be held on Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. They will be serving chicken fried steak with all the trimmings and dessert for an $8 donation. Entertainment will be provided by gospel singer

Jerry Bennett who has performed at the church before and recently performed in Bay City and Rockport. Tickets need to be purchased in advance from any board member, or you can call the church office at 657-2466.

Also, just a reminder that all ladies are invited to join the Ladies' Tuesday Night Bible Study at 6 p.m. every Tuesday evening. They are continuing to study Paul's letters in the New Testament to the churches he helped established during his missionary journeys. Please contact Sheryl Tabor for more information.

Iago Federated Church also offers Adult Bible Study and Youth Night every Wednesday evening starting at 6:30 p.m. The youth enjoy food, praise and worship, and Bible study led by youth minister Brad McQuerry.

Boling resident and talented musician, Michelle Rodriguez will be performing with her brass quintet, Phoenix Rhythm & Horns, this Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sugarland Town Center Square. Come out for a night of fabulous music. You will be in for quite a treat! Phoenix Rhythm & Horns members include: Andy Lingenfelter and Sterling Ablack on trumpets; Michele Rodriguez on French horn; Jason Peguero on trombone; Coleman Locke on tuba; and Terrill Smith on percussion. The group performs a wide variety of music from a repertoire of over 300 songs.

Michelle and her husband Mike have three children. Destiny, who is a freshman at Boling High School; Dominique, a third grader at Newgulf Elementary School; and

Vincent, a first grader at Newgulf Elementary. Michelle is also a member of the Fort Bend Symphony and was one of the musicians to recently accompany the band Kansas along with local musicians

Don't forget the BHS Student Council will be collecting paper goods during the month of January for the January White Give. Anyone wanting to donate to this may contact student council sponsor Patti Hubenak at 657-2506. The drive will run until Jan. 30. Items needed include paper plates, cups, paper towels and toilet paper.

Faith Christian Academy will host their annual Barbecue Chicken Fundraiser Dinner at the KC Hall in Wharton tonight. Proceeds from this event will help with Phase II construction renovations, playground additions and other necessary operating expenses.

In addition, they are still seeking support for their scholarship fund. They have students in need of financial assistance and need your support. If you would like more information about their scholarship program or would like to contribute in any way, please call the office at 531-1000. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
