Leveling the field
While Wharton County is noted for being flat, local farmers still have to level their fields before cultivating begins later in the year. Area ag producers have been taking advantage of the recent mild weather to level fields and burn off ground stubble in preparation for the growing season. Those same farmers will have the next two weeks to continue their controlled burns after the Commissioners Court declined to adopt a burn ban.
