Jack Richardson
Jack Walter Richardson Sr., age 49, of Boling, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on Nov. 5, 1958 in El Campo, son of Walter Raymond Richardson and the late Jo Etta Helfer Richardson.
He was a lifetime resident of Boling and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Boling. He was a former operator at the co-generation plant at Texas- Gulf Sulphur for 13 years and worked as an operator with the Celanese Corporation for eight years.
He graduated from Wharton County Junior College with an associate's degree in business administration. He married Elizabeth "Liz" Somers on Feb. 28, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Etta H. Richardson; and a brother, Dennis Brown.
He enjoyed cooking and entertaining his family.
Friends may call for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008 at Wharton Funeral Home and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
Survivors include his wife, Liz Richardson of Boling; daughter, Mary Jo Richardson of Boling; sons, Keith Richardson of Houston and Jack W. "Bud" Richardson Jr. of Boling; father, Walter Richardson of Boling; sisters, Rita Rose of Garland, Shirley Jansky of Wharton, Diane Pell and husband Eddie of Overton and Ginger May of Overton; grandson, Joseph Richardson of Boling; and numerous cousins including a special cousin, David Chambers and wife, Mari of Temple.
Pallbearers will be Hollis Humberson, Guy Shelton, Curtis Hopkins, Tony Navarro, Gary Joines and Jorge Gonzales.
Honorary pallbearer will be Luke West.
In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the Wharton Kidney Dialysis Center, 103 W. Ahldag, Wharton, TX 77488.
Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
