Robison big hit at Plaza
By MIKE KONVICKA mkonvicka@journal-spectator.com

The Plaza Theatre's first concert series show with Bruce Robison Saturday night was a huge success.

About 180 music lovers enjoyed the acoustic show which lasted 90 minutes.

"It was a huge success," said Plaza board member Candyce Byrne. "We were excited about the whole thing and it brings in a whole different group of people."

"It got us a lot of attention that we really need to focus on. We wanted to start off big like that with somebody with a big name."

Robison had the crowd in his hands and sang "Traveling Soldier," "Wrapped," "Rayne, Louisiana," "12 Bar Blues," "My Brother And Me," "When It Rains," "It Came From San Antonio," "What Would Willie Do," "See You Around," "Angry All The Time," "Desperately," and last but not least "The Good Life."

"I love playing places like this," said Robison, who is working on a new album for the fall.

El Campo native and singersongwriter Stephanie Briggs will perform at next month's concert show on Feb. 29.
