Nancy Munoz

Nancy Lynn Munoz, age 33, of Wharton died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 in an El Campo hospital following an extended illness. She was born on Jan. 16, 1974 in Wharton the daughter of Anselmo "Sam" Munoz Jr. and Elvira "Vera" Longoria Munoz.

Ms. Munoz was a lifelong resident of Wharton and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Munoz in 2003; and her grandparents, Anselmo and Trinidad Munoz Sr. and Jacinto and Leonora Longoria.

A rosary was recited Wednesday evening, Jan. 16, 2008 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Heyer officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.

Survivors include her parents, Sam and Vera Munoz of Wharton; sister and brother-inlaw, Terri and Randy Elmore of Austin; brother and sister-inlaw, Michael and Raquel Munoz of Wharton; one nephew, four nieces and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers were Mike Munoz, Randy Elmore, Taylor Power, Richard Lara Jr., Anthony Garcia, Ryan Cooper and John Steven Gutierrez.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Ted Scott and the Intensive Care Unit staff of El Campo Memorial Hospital.
