Betty Krenek

Funeral services for Betty Ann Krenek, 72, of Wharton, were held Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Hungerford with Rev. Henry C. Rachunek officiating. Burial followed in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery. A rosary was recited Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Krenek died Jan. 12, 2008 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born on Sept. 29, 1935 in Jones Creek, a daughter of the late Willie Maerz and Ella Wendel Maerz.

Mrs. Krenek was a resident of the Wharton area most of her life and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Hungerford. She married Daniel Lee Krenek on Sept. 3, 1956 in El Campo and he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2005. She worked in administration at Wharton Manor for many years. She also worked with her husband at Krenek's Motor Supply. Mrs. Krenek served as altar server, rosary leader and general helper.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wilbur Maerz.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Janiece and Jim Pustejovsky of Sinton, Nancy and Ed Wasek of East Bernard and Cindy and James Vincek of East Bernard; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Anna Krenek of Victoria; sisters, Genevieve Maerz, Clarice Ottis and husband Matt, and Ellen Vickery and husband Willis; sister-in-law, Eleanor Maerz; and 12 grandchildren.
