Another day at the beach
Wharton firfi.ghter Mikael Robertson directs a blast of water from his fire hose toward mountains of sand gathered on the steps of the walkway leading down to the Colorado River at Riverfront Park. Robertson, accompanied by assistant chief Scott Stewart, used a fire hose to clear the park of sediment on Monday that gathered in the park recently when the river was at a higher level. Crews used to remove the sand with shovels, but now use the fire department's hoses since it finishes the job in less than half the time. Assisting on Monday were city workers Cesar Chapa and Steve Salazar, along with city facilities director Bob Baker.
