City to support county drainage

      The Wharton City Council on Monday will consider offering formal support of Wharton County's flood reduction study. City Manager Andres Garza Jr. said council will likely pass a resolution that expresses the importance of the project for residents both inside and outside the city limits.

New police department should be finished by April

      Wharton Police Department could be in its new headquarters as early as April. City Manager Andres Garza Jr. said Thursday renovations on the new 1407 N. Richmond Road facility are going well, and the project could wrap-up within the next 90 days.

Jury canceled for Monday
      Anyone receiving a jury summons for Monday can disregard it. The trial, which was scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday before District Judge Daniel Sklar, has been canceled.
