Brahmas collar Bulldogs for initial District 27-2A victory

EAST BERNARD - East Bernard's boys basketball team got into the District 27-2A win column by beating county rival Boling 69-50 Friday night at Brahma Gymnasium.
The Brahmas entered Tuesday's road game against rival Brazos with a 1-2 record.
The Cougars were 2-1 after losing to Hitchcock 48-42. The Bulldogs from Galveston were 3-0 and played Yes College Prep last night.
Van Vleck was 3-0 before playing Houston Can Academy who was 1-0 after beating Yes College Prep. Boling was 0-3 before playing Danbury, who was 1-2.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1312 lead after the first quarter but the Brahmas rallied back to go up 36-20 at halftime.
East Bernard's lead was 50-41 after the third quarter. The Brahmas then outscored Boling 14-12 in the final eight minutes of the game.
"It was a close game for three quarters," said first year Boling coach Kevin Majewski. "In the fourth quarter, foul trouble and poor shooting caught up to us.

"The kids played hard, we just came out on the losing end."
Mike Hayes finished with a career high of 29 points and he also had three steals and three assists for East Bernard. Lance Crump contributed with 19 points, 11 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Tanne LaBore scored nine points and had six rebounds and three assists.

B.W. McLeod added five, Tanner Thompson scored three and Rodman Callis scored two.
Thompson also had eight rebounds.
Hobbs finished with seven rebounds and three assists, Dupree Taylor had five rebounds and Hemphill had three assists.
Coming up Friday, East Bernard hosts Danbury. Boling entertains Houston Can, Hitchcock plays at Danbury and Yes Prep plays at Brazos.
Brahma JV wins big
East Bernard's junior varsity beat Boling 39-20 for its first district win.
Tyler Dawson scored 11 points and had three rebounds and three steals.
Ben Anderson contributed with 10 points and one assist and Justin Breedlove scored six points and had nine steals, one rebound and a blocked shot.
Jarayl Spears led the Bulldogs with seven points and Xzavier Sims finished with six.
