Scooping it out
City of Wharton employee David Bijarro swings a scoopful of dirt toward a waiting dumptruck at the edge of the Santa Fe Drainage Outfall Ditch. Bijarro and Willie Sanders, who was behind the wheel of a bulldozer, continued to dig the extensive channel on Thursday. The ditch will transport flood water from Alabama Road to FM 1299 and then to the Colorado River.
