Alverta Loyd

Funeral services for Alverta Loyd, 64, of Bay Cliff, will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at East Gate/New Prosperity Baptist Church with Rev. A.J. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the Miller-Gordon Cemetery in Sorrell. Visitation was held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008.

Ms. Loyd died Dec. 28, 2007 at University of Texas Medical Branch. She was born July 23, 1943 in Wharton to Aneal Washington and Lee Bertha Eddie.

Survivors include a devoted former spouse, William Britton Sr., of LaMarque; mother, Lee Bertha Eddie of Wharton; two sons and daughter-in-law, William and Riley Britton Jr. and Xavier Britton both of Bay Cliff; four daughters and sons-in-law, Gwendolyn Britton of Bay Cliff. Daphne and Mike Sims and Natasha and Maurice Jones, all of League City, Sonya and Sydney Marks of Wharton; one godson, Dorwell Felton of Rosenberg; one sister, Nina Mae James of Pledger; a devoted aunt and best friend, Beatrice Faniel of Wharton; two devoted nephews, Timothy Green and Nathaniel Green, both of Houston; 15 grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
