Noe Sonnier
Funeral and death notices in our area

Noe Sonnier Jr., age 76, of Wharton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, at his residence after a long illness. Born in Sugar Land on Feb. 10, 1931 he was the son of the late Noe Sonnier Sr. and Carol Marie Baggese Coleman.

Mr. Sonnier was a Houston area native and graduated from Texas City High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army earning an Honorable Discharge and became a resident of New Gulf shortly after. He retired from Texas Gulf as general manager, where he developed life-long friendships. During his 40 years with Texas Gulf he was involved in all areas of the Sulphur business and traveled all over the world including various U.S. locations, Western Europe and Mexico.

He had a passion for family, his grandson Carson, horses, roping and a lifestyle of hardwork which he tried to pass on to others. He married Carolyn Sue Cowart on June 23, 1956 in Beaumont and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church there.

Mr. Sonnier is preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1959.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Sonnier; daughter, Shanna Shores and husband Kevin of Needville; son, Coby Sonnier and his wife Tiffani and their son, Carson of Boling.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, Dec.30 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wharton with Rev. Don Storey officiating. A private family burial preceded the service at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to church or charity of personal choice.

Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
