The baby was named Malaya Beatrice Torres and weighed 6 lbs., 12 ozs. She was welcomed home by her older brother Daniel Torres III.

Malaya's maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Catarino Avila of Wharton, and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Torres of Glen Flora.

Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Felipe Castro of Sweeny, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Garcia and Elida Avila, all of Wharton.

Luis Herrera

Consuelo Herrera and Luis Paredes, both of Whartons announce the birth of their child, a boy, born at 7:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at Gulf Coast Medical Center.

The baby was named Luis Benigno Paredes and weighed 7 lbs., 14 ozs.

Luis' maternal grandparent is Rosalinda Herrera of Wharton, and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Benigno Paredes of Boling.

Great-grandparents are Enrique Paredes and Maria Cruz, both of Mexico.

Justin Cervantes

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Manuel Cervantes of East Bernard announce the birth of their second child, a boy, born at 2:37 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Gulf Coast Medical Center.

The baby was named Justin Alexander Cervantes and weighed 7 lbs., 13 ozs. He was welcomed home by his older sister Natalie Nicole Cervantes.

Justin's maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Telly Vasquez and John Vasquez, all of Rosenberg, and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jose Cervantes of East Bernard.

Justin's mother is the former Emily Ann Vasquez.
