Wharton Chamber News One of the benefits of belonging to the Wharton Chamber of Commerce is getting great prices on electricity for your business. We have been participating in an electricity coalition that buys electricity at "group rates." It saves chamber members money and helps them avoid the pitfalls of a complex electricity procurement process. A total of 32 Texas chambers, including Wharton, have saved almost $10,000,000 on their electric bills for their members. Moving on. Over the Christmas holidays, you probably ran into people in town you'd never seen before. Strangers among us! They are traveling or passing through. Some are coming home. You may not know them, and in some cases, you may not recognize them. And whether you knew it or not, and whether you liked it or not, you were the ambassador for the City of Wharton. Whatever you said about your town was a reflection on your town. For that moment, you were the spokesman for your community. No matter if you spoke to them or whether they overheard you speaking to someone else, you are still that ambassador. It's not just being polite. It is saying good things about your town, being helpful if asked directions or "what is there to do?" Travelers bring dollars into our economy. Large employers have decided whether to build in a community by how strangers there treated them. Watch out!
Also, we want to welcome two new members of the chamber - J. Mark and Carol Gresham and Polak Petals. |
