Wharton swim teams prevail over Angleton, EC

EL CAMPO - Wharton's boys and girls swim teams won Tuesday's tri-meet at the El Campo Aquatic Center.

The boys team totaled up 39 points to beat out second place Angleton, which had 30 points, and host El Campo, which had 12 points.

The Wharton girls finished with 39 points. Angleton was second with 28 points and El Campo had 27 points.

In girls relays, the Wharton team of Amanda Billings, Blaire Zahn, Kaleigh Kacal and Shea Flynn won the 200-yard medley relay with a 2:08.74.

The boys team of Matthew Zahn, Robert Lee, Johnny Castro and Tate Lowe won with a time of 1:56.87.

The girls 200-yard freestyle relay team of Kendall Watson, Blaire Zahn, Megan Lesak and Kacal finished second with a 1:56.86.

The boys team of Castro, Matthew Zahn, Lowe and Lee took first with a 1:43.16.

In individual races, Kendall Watson won the girls 200-yard freestyle with a 2:30.96.

Taylor Cline finished second in the boys race with a 2:16.09.

Billings won the girls 200- yard individual medley with a 2:37.24. Castro won the boys race with a2:30.85

Flynn finished third in the girls 50-yard freestyle with a 27.71.

Lee won the boys 50-yard freestyle with a 24.92. Matthew Zahn finished fourth with a 26.75 and Cade Kounce was sixth with a 30.58.

Kacal won the girls 100-yard butterfly with a 1:09.33 and Lesak was third with a 1:14.76.

Castro won the boys race with a 1:02.46.

Flynn finished second in the girls 100-yard freestyle with a 1:07.46.

Lowe won the boys race with a 1:00.03.

Lizzie Roades finished second in the girls 500-yard freestyle with a 6:35.25.

Billings finished second in the girls 100-yard backstroke with a 1:11.96.

Zahn finished second in the boys race with a 1:17.52 and Lowe was second with a 1:18.59.

Zahn won the girls 100-yard breast stroke with a 1:21.95.

Lee finished second in the boys race with a 1:18.09 and Cline was third with a 1:19.70.
