Boling, EB players selected to 27-2A football teams
McLeod selected Offensive MVP

HITCHCOCK - Boling and East Bernard were represented on the All- District 27-2A Football Teams which were selected last month at Hitchcock High School.

Six Boling and 10 East Bernard players were selected to the first or second teams.

Bulldog senior running back B.W. McLeod was selected the Offensive Newcomer-of-The Year.

He scored 14 touchdowns and rushed for 1,200 yards.

In other individual awards Hitchcock senior Anthony McClain was selected the Most Valuable Player.

Brazos senior John Trevino was selected the Defensive Most Valuable Player.

Danbury freshman Garrett Zimmerle was selected the Defensive Newcomer and Hitchcock sophomore Devante Provost was selected the Offensive Newcomer.

Hitchcock coach Gary Carney was selected Coach-of-the Year.

First team offensive selections for Boling included tackle Matthew Steiner who has a unanimous choice.

Sophomore Kalin Ray was a unanimous pick as a receiver.

Thomas Felder was Boling's lone second team offense pick, and Sean Hollis and Ray were the Bulldogs' lone second team selections on defense.

East Bernard's first team selections on offense included running back Lance Crump, center Tyler Kramr and linemen David Sims and Clinton Graves.

Junior Randy Perkins was a unanimous first team selection at tight end.

Sophomore Chris Plunkett shared first team kicking honors with Brazos' Victor Carbajal.

Second team offensive selections included running back Mike Hayes who missed four district games with an injury.

Still he scored 11 touchdowns and rushed for 869 yards.

Joining him was tackle Brady Kubena.

First team defensive selections for the Brahmas included tackle David Sims, end Randy Perkins, linebacker Jacob Hudman and Hayes in the secondary.

Second team selections included linebacker Jared Minks, Plunkett in the secondary, Kramr at end and Kubena at tackle.

Boling's honorable mention selections included Trevor Archer, Tanner Thompson and Marlon Lopez.

All-Academic selections included Jacob Copeland, Simon Mendoza, Anselmo Muniz, Archer, Lopez and Steiner.

East Bernard's honorable mention selections included Matt Stelzel, Austin Matura, Josh Chmelik, Luis Roldan, Barnaby Coronado and Plunkett.

All Academic selections included Alex Wasek, Cameron Mazoch, Jonte Goff, Stelzel, Plunkett, Minks, Kramr, Sims and Kubena.
