Alcohol, drug charges

Ernest Melendez, 38, 905 Roth, El Campo, was booked into Wharton County Jail on Monday for driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain financial responsibility and no drivers license. He was released at 9:30 a.m. Monday on $3,000 bond.

James Russell Larkin, 22, 13941 FM 538, Edna, was booked at 4:33 a.m. Sunday for driving while intoxicated. He was released at 11:45 a.m. Sunday on $2,500 bond.

Charles Ray Ash, 42, 1627 Hilltop Rd., East Bernard, was booked at 11:30 p.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated. He was held on $2,500 bond as of 11:30 a.m. Monday.

J. Isabel Mercado, 32, 13514 Carruth, Houston, was booked at 4:20 p.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated, no drivers license and running a stop sign. He was released at 11:15 a.m. Sunday on $4,000 bond.

Rolando Perez, 31, 413 Caney, Wharton, was booked at 6 p.m. Friday for driving while intoxicated (commitment). He was released at 8 a.m. Sunday.

Russell Zahradnik, 31, 4963 CR 211, East Bernard, was booked at 3:43 a.m. Friday for possession of a dangerous drug. He was released at 3:20 a.m. Saturday on $5,000 bond.

David Flores, 31, 9445 FM 102, Glen Flora, was booked at 12:22 a.m. Thursday for driving while intoxicated (third offense or more) and driving while license invalid with previous conviction. He was held on $12,500 bond as of 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Assault charges

Albert Johnson, 18, 1887 FM 2614, Eagle Lake, was booked at 12:21 a.m. Sunday for assault-family violence. He was released at 11 a.m. Sunday on $2,500 bond.

Richard Hernandez, 29, 304 Lundy, El Campo, was booked at 8:25 a.m. Saturday for assault. He was released at 11 a.m. Saturday on $2,500 bond.

Lee Cruz Trevino, 29, 2418 Old Lane City Rd., Wharton, was booked at 4:05 a.m. Saturday for assault of a peace officer and resisting arrest. He was released at 4:15 p.m. Saturday on $12,500 bond.

Letiqua Rebector, 26, 806 E. Emily, Wharton, was booked at 3:57 a.m. Friday for assault. She was released Friday on $6,000 bond.

Burglary, theft charges

Jose Calan Canche, 24, 1009 Catalpe, Matagorda, was booked at 8:55 p.m. Saturday for unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated. He was released at 6:30 p.m. Sunday on $4,000 bond.

Dustin T. Phillips, 17, 1198 CR 165, Boling, was booked at 11:10 p.m. Friday for theft. He was released at 11:20 a.m. Saturday on $500 bond.

Other charges

Torrence Boston, 35, 1507 Bravo, El Campo, was booked at 6:52 a.m. Monday for capias pro fines, no insurance and running a stop sign. He was held on $1,724 in bonds and fines.

Justin Hernandez, 22, 105 Third, El Campo, was booked at 6:40 a.m. Monday for criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He was released at 10:30 a.m. Monday on $3,000 bond.

Klay D. King, 20, 2043 Magnolia Crest, Sugar Land, was booked at 8:25 a.m. Saturday for criminal mischief and public intoxication. He was released at 11:55 a.m. Saturday on $3,000 bond.

Jason R. Gardner, 29, 2706 N. Fulton, Wharton, was booked at 8 a.m. Saturday for failure to appear and speeding. He was released at 11:10 a.m. Saturday on $1,000 bond.

Billy J. Hawkins, 25, 611 S. Washington, El Campo, was booked at 7 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for injury to a child. He was released at 11:15 a.m. Saturday on $10,000 bond.

Luis Manuel Fortanelli, 18, 112 Pumping Plant Rd., Wharton, was booked at 4:10 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to attend school. He was released at 1 p.m. Sunday after serving his time.

Shonna L. Wittman, 28, 220 Palomar, El Campo was booked at 2 p.m. Friday for probation violation. He was held on $20,000 bond as of 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Omar D. Marks, 35, 1301 Kingston, Wharton, was booked Thursday for writ of attachment. He was held on $4,000 bond as of 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Robert C. VonDerAu, 22, Regency Dr., El Campo, was booked on Thursday for two counts of failure to appear. He was released at 1:30 p.m. Thursday on $20,000 bond.

Jail population as of 11:30 a.m. Monday was 104 prisoners.
