Carlos Torres A Funeral Mass for Carlos "Charles" Torres, 64, of Wharton, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Wharton Funeral Home with a rosary at 6 p.m. Mr. Torres died Dec. 10, 2007 at home following an extended illness. He was born on Jan. 14, 1943 in Richmond, the son of the late Ernest Torres and Francisca Alonzo Torres. He had been a resident of Wharton since 1966 and was formerly from East Texas. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He was a pipe fitter in the construction industry for Celanese and Mundy Construction. Mr. Torres married Aurora "Birdy" Mata on Jan. 29, 1962 in Wharton. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Chris Torres. Survivors include his wife, Aurora "Birdy" Torres of Wharton; daughter, Monica Boyd of Wharton; sons, Charles Torres Jr. of San Antonio, Curtis Torres and Craig Torres, both of Wharton; brothers, Mike Torres and wife Ramona, Felipe Torres and Lupe Torres and wife Rosie, all of Rosenberg, and Johnny Torres and wife Bernice of Fresno; and nine grandchildren. |
