Brahmarettes notch 44-34 win over Ganado Maidens

EAST BERNARD - The East Bernard girls basketball team improved to 4-5 on the season after beating Ganado 44-34 Tuesday night in Brahma Gymnasium.

Ganado jumped out to a 12-11 lead after the first quarter but East Bernard rallied to go up 27-19 at halftime.

The Brahmarettes outscored the Maidens 11-9 in the third quarter to go up 38-28.

Both teams scored six points in the final eight minutes of the game.

"Our defensive intensity was excellent," said EB coach Ronnie Schmidt

"We were able to rebound very well against a bigger team. Our offensive execution is improving every game and our ability to pass the ball and get good shots was excellent.

"Overall a very good effort on both ends of the floor."

Florence Wilson led the Brahmarettes with 13 points.

Roberta Pettit finished with 10. She also had nine rebounds.

Haley Dawson added nine. Bev Kresta scored eight points and also had eight rebounds.

Paula Lopez and Lopez scored two each.

EB cranks up it's District 27-2A schedule next Tuesday by playing Yes College Prep in Houston.
