Oard Guin

Oard Harold Guin, age 86, of Wharton died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born on March 15, 1921 in Leesville, La., the son of the late Clayburn David Guin and Doca Phine Malone Guin.

Mr. Guin had been a resident of Wharton since 1986 and was a former resident of Rosenberg and Pecos. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Guin married Dorothy Mae Hopper on April 11, 1947 in Boling and she preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 2004. He was a member of the Peace Tabernacle Church in Wharton. Mr. Guin worked as a drill superintendent for Pennzoil Oil Company for 37 years until his retirement in 1986. His hobbies included fishing and gardening.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at Peace Tabernacle Church in Wharton with Rev. Charles Fisher officiating and assisted by Rev. Larry Gandy and Rev. Joe Broadway. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton with military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post No. 87 in Wharton.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Archie Lockhart of Fort Stockton and Sharon and Tom Phillips of Pittsburg; sister, Lola White of Wharton; brother and sister-in-law, James and Nadine Guin of Wharton; grandchildren, Jennifer Hightower, Karen Tulloch, Brian Thomas Phillips, Deanna Parkinson, Tracy Lockhart and Kimberly Anderson; great-grandchildren, Preston Hightower, Madison Hightower, Carson Parkinson, Alix Parkinson and Baby Anderson.

Pallbearers were Brian Phillips, Tracy Lockhart, Preston Hightower, Ricky White, Tim Guin and Jeff White.

Honorary Pallbearers were Chris Tulloch, Steve Anderson and all the members of Peace Tabernacle Church in Wharton.

In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to Peace Tabernacle, P.O. Box 948, Wharton, TX 77488.

Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
