EB girls go 2-2 in Anderson tournament

ANDERSON - The East Bernard girls basketball team went 2-2 in last week's Anderson Shiro Invitational Tournament.

East Bernard beat the host Lady Owls 33-31 on Thursday afternoon and then lost to Port Aransas 80-20 later in the day.

The Brahmarettes then beat Somerville 45-43 on Friday and lost to Normangee 55-46 on Friday.

In the win over Anderson, Bev Kresta hit a jumper with 20 seconds left.

Roberta Pettit and Haley Dawson scored 11 points each. Florence Wilson and Kresta scored four each. Tara Hlavinka added two and Paula Lopez hit a free throw.

In the loss to Port Aransas, Dawson scored nine points. Wilson and Hlavinka finished with seven each. Kresta had four and Pettit added three.

In the win over Somerville, Dawson led the team with 14 points. Pettit scored 11 points and Wilson added 10.

Kresta finished with five. Hillarie Blazek and Hlavinka scored two each. Lopez hit a free throw.

In the loss to Normangee, Pettit finished with 14 points. Wilson added 13. Hlavinka finished with six, Kresta had five, Dawson added four. Lopez and Blazek scored two each.

East Bernard played Ganado on Tuesday and plays in the Sealy Invitational Tournament on Thursday.
