Tigers go 2-2 in Weimar tourney

WEIMAR - The Wharton boys basketball team went 2-2 at the Weimar Invitational Tournament; which was completed Saturday in Wildcat Gymansium.
Wharton beat Flatonia 48-36 on Thursday in pool play. On Friday, the Tigers lost to Lufkin Hudson 65-50 and to Hutto 67-43.
The Tigers then beat Luling 70-56 on Saturday to improve to 4-2 on the season.
In Friday's game against Hudson, K.C. Curtis and Julian Waddy scored 10 points each.
Jonavan Jones finished with nine. Jordan Kirschke added eight, Kenneth Phynon scored six.
Keemon Jones, Shelley Lewis and Odis Thompson scored two each and Ronard Jackson hit a free throw.
Against Hutto, Jonavan Jones and Phynon scored 14 points each. Kirschke scored eight, Curtis had seven and Thompson and Keemon Jones scored four each.
Ronnie Ray, Jackson and Waddy had field goal.
Against Luling, Kirschke poured in 21 points. Keemon Jones and Jonavan Jones finished with 14 each and Phynon scored nine.
Curtis scored five. Waddy added three and Jackson and Thompson scored two each.
Wharton had an open date Tuesday and plays in the Fort Bend ISD Tournament in Alief on Thursday.
The Tigers host Edna on Dec. 11 and entertains Columbus in the District 24- 3A opener on Dec. 14
