Fall GED classes

Just Do It Now Counseling & Life Recovery Center in downtown Wharton will begin fall GED classes on Jan. 14, 2008.

In partnership with the Wharton County Junior College Adult Education Department and the Worksource, this GED class is also designed as a transitional credit class for students not only interested in getting a GED, but at the same time using that training towards a 1year welding certification.

"The bottom line is this: In this class a student can not only get their GED, but will have the opportunity to concurrently obtain a 1-year welding certifi- cate," says Just Do It Now Executive Director Greg Baines.

"This is a great opportunity for the individual seriously interested in obtaining his GED and at the same time to have this training transferable to a trade related certificate such as welding.

"As a partner in the program, I feel that this is a win for all those involved, but the big winner will be the committed student that takes advantage of this opportunity. There is a built in incentive for the individual looking to improve himself with a GED and an employable trade."

Registration begins immediately and all interested students must fill out an application at the Just Do It Now office located at 235 W. Milam in downtown Wharton.

Persons may also call the office at 531-1975 or contact the Adult Basic Education department at Wharton County Junior College at 532-4560 for further information.

There are no tuition fees or other charges to qualified students, but all students are required to submit to a basic screening process.

Again, classes are scheduled to begin on Jan. 14.
