Tiger Frosh prevail over Bellville in Columbus tourney

COLUMBUS - Wharton's freshman boys basketball team beat Bellville 39-22 Thursday afternoon in the Columbus Invitational Tournament.

The Tigers played a second round game on Friday and were guaranteed another game today.

Wharton jumped out to a 16-9 lead after the first quarter but Bellville cut the margin to two points at halftime, 18-17,

The Brahmas then shutout the Tigers 4-0 in the third quarter to go up 20-18.

Wharton scored 15 points in the fourth quarter and Bellville had 9.

Ashton Washington led the Tigers with 15 points. Kendall Curtis finished with 9. Ken Lowery added 5 and Luther Lathon scored 3.
