Frank Hernandez Frank Hernandez, age 56, of Wharton, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 in a Wharton hospital following a sudden illness. He was born on Aug. 2, 1951 in Wharton, a son of the late Ramon L. Hernandez and Frances Ramirez Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez was a resident of Wharton and graduated from Wharton High School. He served his country in the United States Army from May 1971 until receiving his Honorable Discharge on May 18, 1977. Mr. Hernandez married Anita Tijerina on Dec. 22, 1971 in Wharton. He worked as a minister and was a pastor to his church. Mr. Hernandez was a volunteer for the Department of Human Services and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He relished spreading the word of God with all people and especially enjoyed singing in his church band. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hernandez was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Aguilar; and half-sister, Elvira Barrera. Visitation will begin on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at 3 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Debra Cantu officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Eliseo Hernandez, Michael A. Hernandez, Raymond Hernandez, Oscar Ortega Jr., Jonathan Ray Ortega and Manuel Ortega III. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Anita Hernandez of Wharton; daughter, Minerva Hernandez of Wharton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Ben Castro of Wharton, Margaret and Guadalupe Garcia of El Campo, Santos and D.C. Rivera of Wharton and Mike Aguilar; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Faye Hernandez of Wharton, Eliseo and Lucilla Hernandez of Wharton and Johnnie and Sonia Hernandez of Manderville, La.; and half-brother, George Hernandez and wife, Bertha, of Rosenberg. Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home. |
