Teaching vessel sails Saturdays

The Texas A&M University teaching vessel, R.V. Karma, routinely provides its marine biology and ecology discovery cruises for the public on the first Saturday of each month.

These exploratory excursions will depart at 9:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., from the home berth of the 57-foot boat located in Matagorda Harbor.

Walk-ons are welcomed provided space is available. Reservations are strongly recommended since space aboard each cruise is limited to 27 guests. It is $8.50/person for those younger than 13 or older than 57 and $12.50 for those 13 to 57 years of age.

Children under the age of 5 are free. Accompanying adults must make a reservation for them and bring a properly sized USCG-approved personal floatation device for each child.

Call 979-863-2940 or e-mail floatingclassroom@ag.tamu. edu for further information or reservations.
