Beasley man, recently released from custody, still at large after eluding officers in high speed chase

JOHNSON
A Beasley man released from Texas Youth Commission five months ago is now wanted for allegedly attacking a Wharton couple with a tire iron and kitchen knife.

Police have been unable to locate 20- year-old Jamale Rashad Johnson since he eluded officers early Sunday morning, but say he has remained in contact with the family of his victims.

"He has called the victim's mother and has threatened to return and kill them all," said Detective Don Falks of the Wharton Police Department.

Those threats have led to three warrants being issued for retaliation. Warrants have also been issued for aggravated robbery, burglary with intent to commit aggravated assault and felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle.

Police allege Johnson broke open the front door of a residence in the 200 block of West Dahlgren around 4 a.m. Sunday. He then entered the bedroom, where he confronted Erica Jimenez, 23, and Kenneth Dorsy, 22, both of whom were asleep in bed.

Johnson attacked the couple with a tire tool, police allege. He also allegedly stabbed Dorsy in the chest before grabbing Jimenez's wallet (with $350 cash) and car keys then fleeing the scene.

Police later recovered the tire tool and a large, silver bladed kitchen knife with a broken handle. Both items were covered in blood, police said.

Jimenez and Dorsy were taken by ambulance to Gulf Coast Medical Center. Both had multiple head injuries and Dorsy had a chest wound. Jimenez was treated and released, while Dorsy was transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where he was listed in stable condition. Officers Richard

Cruz and Don Chaney responded early Sunday to the 9-1-1 call of a domestic disturbance in progress. The officers were told the attacker was leaving the residence in a tan Toyota Camry. Cruz spotted the

vehicle and attempted to pull it over. It sped away. A pursuit ensued, with the vehicles traveling north on Fulton to U.S. 59, then heading north into Fort Bend County. The chase ended on a county road not far from where Johnson lives.

Police said Johnson fled from the car on foot. He has remained at large ever since. Falks said Johnson had been released from Texas Youth Commission about five months ago after serving time for aggravated sexual assault.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Wharton Police Department at 532-3131 or a local law enforcement agency. Falks urged the public to exercise caution. "We consider him to be very dangerous," he said.
