Jury canceled
      Area residents receiving a summons to report for jury duty at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, for Judge Ben Hardin's 23rd District Court can disregard the notice. Officials with the district clerk's office said the jury has been canceled.

Holiday parade has best turnout ever

      If this week's holiday parade in downtown Wharton seemed more extravagant than in past years, that's because it was. More entries than ever before participated, with a total of 83 making the trek down Milam Street and around the county courthouse.

Parade watchers leave mess behind

      Along with scores of other volunteers, county maintenance supervisor Paul Shannon spent hours getting the downtown square ready for this week's holiday parade. The morning after, he was again on Monterey Square - only this time he was cleaning up the mess left behind.
