Gutierrez to play softball at SHSU in Huntsville

Wharton High senior Brittany Gutierrez made it official Monday morning, signing to play softball at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville next year.

Gutierrez, a third baseman, received several honors as junior for the Lady Tiger softball team.

She earned first team All- District 24-3A and All-Wharton County honors and honorable mention Texas Sports Writers Association laurels.

Gutierrez also played volleyball for the Lady Tigers,

Academically, she made the A& B honor roll every six weeks and was Who's Who among high school students.

Gutierrez will major in kinesiology and mathematics.
