Don McAlpin
Don Forrest McAlpin, age 52, of Wharton died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 in a Houston hospital following an extended illness. He was born on Oct. 11, 1955 in Fort Smith, Ark., the son of Hershel H. McAlpin and Charlene Lois Eubanks McAlpin.
Mr. McAlpin had been a resident of Wharton for the past 18 years and was a former resident of Austin and Buda. He worked as an accessibility specialist for the State of Texas and was a former technician specialist with Jack In The Box Corporation. He was an ordained minister and his favorite hobbies were sports, cooking and spending time with his pets, Dottie and Bear.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. McAlpin was Christian by faith. He married Ophelia Cordero on Oct. 6, 1996 in Houston.
Following Cremation, memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home with Deacon Alvin Matthys officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Ophelia McAlpin of Wharton; daughter, Jennifer Macek Korenek of El Campo; son, Jerome Delgado of Wharton; mother, Charlene McAlpin of The Woodlands; brother, Jimi McAlpin of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Ashly Macek, Jamie Macek and Todd Macek; uncle, Darrell Opine of Odem; cousins, Dustin Opine and Scott Opine of Arkansas.
Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
