Reynalda Garza

Reynalda Lopez Garza, age 68, of Wharton, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at her residence in Wharton. She was born on Jan. 6, 1939, in Newgulf, daughter of the late Ruben Lopez Sr. and Francisca Ybarra Lopez.

Mrs. Garza was a lifetime resident of Wharton County having been reared and attended school in Newgulf. She was married to Frank Garza on Dec. 3, 1962 in Edna, he preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1996. She was a cook by trade, having worked for George's Restaurant, Hilltop Café and Matagorda General Hospital before she retired in 1993. Mrs. Garza was very active in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and was a member of the Guadalupanas. She enjoyed baking, bingo, lottery tickets and her family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Dorla Alexia Garza; son, Joe Garza Sr.; sister, Guadalupe Gonzalez; and brothers, Edward Lopez and Johnny Lopez.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at 10 a.m. from Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Augustin Nsiah-Asanti officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughters, Belinda Jimenez and husband Roy of Wharton, Rebecca Essani and husband Eric of Brenham; daughter-in-law, Isabel Garza of Falfurrias; sons, Robert Lopez and Gloria Carothers, Juan Garza and Frank Garza Jr. and wife Sally, all of Wharton; brothers, Ruben Lopez Jr. and wife Connie of Alvin, Daniel Lopez and wife Isabel of Boling and Raul Ramirez and wife Lillian of Tomball; sisters, Terri Rodriguez of Boling and Rebecca Villarreal of Alvin; 15 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
