Schools to observe Veterans Day

Each campus in Wharton ISD will commemorate Veteran's Day.

On Thursday, Nov. 8, the third grade choir at Sivells Elementary School will present four identical Veterans Day programs at 8:15 a.m., 9:10 a.m., 10:10 a.m. and 11:20 a.m.

Also on Thursday, Dawson Elementary School's music department will have a program at 10 a.m. featuring patriotic songs, poems and speeches.

On Friday, Nov. 9, Hopper Elementary School will have the Wharton High School ROTC present the colors at 10 a.m.

Monday, Nov. 12, Wharton Junior High School will have an assembly at 10:40 a.m. The program will include performances by the WJH band, choir, student council and a guest speaker.

Wharton High School will also have a Veteran's Day assembly on Nov. 12 starting at 12:20 p.m.

The schools invite veterans of foreign wars to be special guests at all programs.

Parents and the public are also invited to attend.
