Velma Anderson

Velma Lee Anderson of Wharton died Oct. 27, 2007 at the age of 82. She was born May 24, 1925 in Pledger to the late Robert Willis Sr. and Estell James Watkins.

She retired from Richmond State School in 1993.

She is survived by three sons, Otis R. Anderson, James W. Anderson Jr. and Al Anderson; three daughters, Estell A. Porter, Valerie A. Golden, Dolores A. Mitchell; six brothers, Willie Jackson, Leotis Watkins Sr., Ben Watkins Jr., Robert Willis Jr., Eddie Willis and Terry Willis; five sisters, Lois Scott, Brenda Edwards, Hallie Hearld, Barbara Willis, Zella Johnson; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 starting at 10 a.m. for viewing followed by funeral services commencing at 11 a.m. at Camp Zion Rising Star United Missionary Baptist Church, 6400 FM 1161 W. in the Spanish Camp community. Wake services will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church, 407 CR 115, in Burr.
