Hitchcock crushes Boling 62-20 in District 27-2A contest

HITCHCOCK - In a battle of the Bulldogs, Boling came out on the short end of a 62-20 score against Hitchcock here Friday night.

Hitchcock improved to 3-0 in the District 27-2A standings and clinched a playoff spot in the process. Boling slipped to 0-3.

The Bulldogs from Galveston County built a 28-8 halftime lead and added five more touchdowns in the final two quarters.

Hitchcock entered the contest averaging 475 yards per game and finished with 488 on Friday.

Quarterback Morris Tuck threw for five touchdowns and completd 10 of 13 passes for 276 yards.

Boling totaled up 308 yards in the game. Sean Hollis completed 10 of 27 passes for 153 yards and had three intercpeptions

Boling took the ensuing kickoff and drove to the Hitchcock six when a pass by Sean Hollis was picked off.

Five plays later, Tuck connected on a 75-yard scoring strike to Jordan Turner with 4:44 remainiing in the first quarter.

Justin Mata's kick made it 7-0.

Boling threatend again and drove to the Hitchcock 19 before turning the ball over own downs.

Hitchcock then punted and Boling took over at its own 48-yardline.

Four plays later, Kalin Ray caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Hollis with 7:45 remaining in the second quarter.

Hollis added the 2-point conversion to put Boling up 8-7.

Hitchcock returned the ensuing kickoff back to the Boling 35.

Three plays later, Tuck connected with Bradley Turner on a six yard touchdown pass.

Mata's kick made it 14-8 with 6:40 remaining.

Hitchcock got the ball back after a Boling punt. Anthony McClain lined up as a quarterback in the shot gun formation.

He took the ball and raced 76 yards for a score.

Mata's kick made it 21-8.

Hitchcock got the ball back again and Tuck connected with Jordan Turner on a 38-yard scoring strike.

Mata's kick made it 28-8 and the half finally ended.

Boling tried an onsides kick to start the second half but Hitchcock recovered it.

Two plays later, Tuck connected with McClain on a 46-yard scoring strike.

Mata's kick made it 35-8.

Boling answered back with 9:53 remaining when B.W. McLeod caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Hollis.

The 2-point conversion try failed leaving Hitchcock with a 35-14 lead.

Tuck then hooked up with Turner on a 13-yard scoring strike with 7:50 remaining. Mata's kick brought the score to 42-14.

Before the quarter ended. Bradley Williams caught a 6 yard pass from Tuck.

Mata's kick made it 49-14.

McLeod capped off a 10-play, 62- yard drive for Boling on a 11-yard run with 10:52 remaining in the third fourth quarter.

The conversion pass failed leaving Hitchcock with a 49-20 lead.

McClain scored Hitchcock's next touchdown with 9:21 remaining to make it 55-20. Mata's kick brought the score to 56-20.

Steven Downey scored Hitchcock's last touchdown on a 5-yard run with 2:36 remaiing in the game.

Boling's Simon Mendoza blocked Mata's extra point kick.

McLeod rushed for 124 yards on 20 carries and Ray caught five passes for 91 yards.

Boling, now 1-6 on the season, hosts Brazos next Friday.

The Cougars own a 1-2 district record and had an open date.
