Roy Burris

Roy Lee Burris, 51 years old, of Millican, passed away Friday, Oct. 5. Memorial services were held at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station located at 2901 S. Texas Ave. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m.

Mr. Burris was born to Norwood and Barbara Burris in Kenedy on Oct. 14, 1955. He worked in the construction industry for 37 years and he possessed a unique ability to express himself through the creation of his precise and exquisite carvings and wood workings. In addition, he enjoyed fishing at the family camp house in Matagorda, where he reveled in the peace and tranquility of the outdoors. Mr. Burris took pleasure in entertaining his family and friends with his cooking and barbecue. He savored every moment he could spend with his family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, father, "PaPa" and friend. He will be profoundly missed by all who had been influenced and touched by his artistic and loving nature.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norwood Burris.

Survivors include, his loving mother, Barbara Burris of Wharton; brother, Charlie Burris of College Station; sister, Deanna Feyen and her husband Mike of Wharton; daughters, Crystal Burris and her fiancé Lee Mantey of Snook and Kati Burris of Bryan; son, Ryan Burris of Bryan; grandchildren, Colton Burris and Delaney Mantey, both of Snook; his good friend, Melissa Carey and her daughter Sarah; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
