Ernestina Villereal

Ernestina Guerrero Villereal, age 81, of Wharton died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 in a Houston hospital following an illness. She was born on Jan. 7, 1926 in Richmond the daughter of the late Augustine Guerrero and Herminia Trevino Guerrero.

Mrs. Villereal was reared in Richmond and attended school there. She married Emilio Villereal Sr. on Oct. 20, 1947 in Richmond. In her early years, she worked at Guerrero Grocery Store for her parents, R and B Department Store, and was co-owner/operator of Larry's Restaurant in Wharton for 23 years retiring in 1991. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Anabelle Cantu, Argentina Quesada, Eberardo Guerrero, Elias Guerrero, Moises Guerrero and Rosendo Guerrero; also one grandchild, Eberardo Cuevas.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. today, Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007 at Primera Iglesia Bautista of Wharton with Rev. Joel Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow in the San Gabriel Cemetery in Richmond.

Survivors include her son, Emilio Villereal Jr. and wife Leticia of Wharton; daughter Rosemary Cuevas of Wharton; grandchildren, Angelica O'Canas, Jacqueline Alvarez, Michael Anthony Villereal and Marissa Villereal; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Alvarez and Erica Alvarez. Her siblings who also survive include, Herminia Guerra of San Antonio, Guadalupe Martinez of Arlington, Erasmo Guerrero of Tulsa, Okla., and Billy Guerrero of Richmond.

Pallbearers are Michael Villereal, Victor Hernandez, Hector Alvarez, Larry Guerrero, Ralph Villarreal and Robert Vandagriff.

Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
