Brahmarettes fight for 27-2A playoff spot

EAST BERNARD - East Bernard's volleyball team picked up an important District 27-2A win over Van Vleck Friday afternoon in Brahma Gymnasium.

The Brahmarettes beat the winless Lady Leopards 25-11, 25-19, 25-10 to improve to 2-3 and complete the first round of league play.

East Bernard hosted second place Danbury in a must-win match on Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers beat Boling last Friday in five games to improve to 4- 1.

The Lady Bulldogs were 3-2 before playing 5-0 Brazos last night.

EB visits 1-4 Hitchcock next Tuesday and plays the Lady Leopards again on Oct. 16.

Tara Hlavinka led the Brahmarettes with six kills and two aces. Bev Kresta finished with four kills, six aces and two blocks.

Laura Kubes contributed with three kills, two aces and one block and setter Candice Dusek had 14 assists.

East Bernard visits Hitchcock on Friday and plays at Van Vleck next Tuesday.

The Brahmarettes host rivals Brazos on Oct. 19 and Boling on Oct. 23.
