Lady Pioneers lose to Laredo

Wharton County Junior College slipped to 4-4 in the District M Region VIV volleyball standings after losing to Laredo Community College in five games Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Gymnasium.
WCJC lost the first game 30-22 and won the next two by scores of 30-23 and 31-29.
But Laredo battled back to win the next two 30-27, 15-9. The second place Lady Palominos improved to 5-1.
Alvin beat Coastal Bend last Friday and was 4-3 before palying 1-3 Galveston last night. League-leading San Jacinto College owns a 4-0 record.
WCJC played 1-3 Lee College on Tuesday night.
The Lady Pioneers totaled up 45 kills in the match. Chelsie Fowler finished with 17. Kadeem Brinkley added 10. Emmy Rodgers had nine, Amanda Yeager added seven. Savannah Schoelmann had three, Christina Moceanu had two and Tracey Beicker had one.
Rodgers also had five blocks with two aces and six digs. Fowler had two blocks with one assist, one ace and 38 digs. Moceanu had 45 assists with two aces and 15 digs. Brinkley and Beicker each had two aces.
Beicker also had 23 digs. Brinkley added 19, Moceanu added 15, Yeager had 13 and Schoelman had six.
WCJC returns to action next Tuesday by playing San Jacinto College in Baytown.
