BOLING - Boling had to put last Friday's 56-0 loss to Palacios behind them quickly in order to prepare to play Danbury in their first District 27- 2A game.
The Panthers beat Hull-Daisetta 28-14 in a non district game for their first win.
"That game (Palacios) doesn't dictate if we make the playoffs or not," said Boling coach Neal Majewski. "I'm hoping we're ready to start fresh and get after it."
"It's a district opponent and they all count. You get up for every single one. The second that you don't prepare properly or not ready that's the team that's going to beat you."
"The next five games are what put you in the playoffs or keep you out. Like every coach in America says when your start district, you're 0-0."
It's no secrect that Humber Field is one of the toughest places to play. The Panthers beat the Bulldogs there in 2000 to snap a 68-game district losing streak.
"The way we view it is that it's just a road game," said Majewski. "We take our normal road mentality with us and we're going there to do a job no matter who it is."
This is the 26th meeting between the two teams since they first played back in 1979. The Bulldogs have won 24 of those contests.
Boling is ranked 156th in Class 2A with a power rating of 112. The Panthers are ranked 161st with a power rating of 111. The Panthers are a 12- point favorite.
Danbury coach Jay Janczak believes it's a an advantage playing in Danbury.
"I think it helps playing at home," said Janczak. "Because of the new realignment two years ago, the past two games have been played at Bulldog Stadium in Boling."
The Panthers lost to East Bernard 48-21 two weeks ago in the district opener.
"We're certainly excited and happy with the win but it means nothing going into this week, said fifth-year Danbury coach Jay Janczak. "It's a new week."
"They've (Boling) had a rough couple of weeks, " said Janczak referring to the Bulldogs losses to Louise and Palacios.
The Bulldogs are 1-3, losing to Louise three weeks ago and Industrial to open the season
The Brahmas outlasted Van Vleck to improve to 2-0 in district play and visit 1-0 Hitchcock Friday.
The Panthers welcome back quarterback Scott Zimmerle who missed three games with an ankle injury. He saw limited play last Friday.
"He's our leader and there's no doubt about that," said Janczak.
Jake DeBerry took his place and did and admirable job. He will move back to his receivier position. Dillion Peltier will carry the ball.
"You have to be sound and defensively prepared," said Majewski, referring to Danbury's offensive weapons. "We have to stop those guys."
"They're fired up and played East Bernard well," said Majewski. "They are fighting just like anybody else is to get into the playoffs."
The Panthers lost to Danbury 50-0 two weeks ago.
"You can play this team, beat that team that game," said Majewski. "I think it's going to be a good game because we're both good ball clubs."

Janczak's biggest concering is stopping Boling runningback B.W. McLeod who has scored six touchdowns and rushed for 380 yards.
"We have to stop him," said Janczak. They're still a good little football team looking to put four quarters together."
"It will come down to whoever blocks and t ackles the best," said Janczak.
