Tigers aim for 2nd win

      Wharton's football team picked up its initial win of the season last Friday to put them in contention for one of the three playoff spots at stake in District 24-3A. The Tigers won a defensive 14-7 battle over Brookshire Royal to even its league record to 1-1.

      BOLING - Boling had to put last Friday's 56-0 loss to Palacios behind them quickly in order to prepare to play Danbury in their first District 27- 2A game. The Panthers beat Hull-Daisetta 28-14 in a non district game for their first win.

      Wharton County Junior College slipped to 4-4 in the District M Region VIV volleyball standings after losing to Laredo Community College in five games Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Gymnasium. WCJC lost the first game 30-22 and won the next two by scores of 30-23 and 31-29.

Broussard paces WCJC rodeo team
      UVALDE - WCJC sophomore Trey Broussard earned All-Around Cowboy honors at this past weekend's Southewest Texas Junior College competition. Broussard, who calls Esterwood, La. home, finished second in saddle bronc riding with 69 points and he was third in bareback riding with 75 points.
